Our mission, along with all congregations of the United Methodist Church, is to make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World.  Following Christ's command from the Gospel of Matthew, we accomplish our mission by being the Body of Christ and Reaching Out - Reaching Up - Reaching In in the name of Christ.  As the body of Christ we share the love and grace of God through worship - service - study - and fellowship.

At Epworth we have many dedicated outreach programs.  In the upcoming months we have planned missions trips,  both within and outside of the US. Below are some ways in which Epworth reaches out to our community.  If you would like to be part of the ongoing efforts and mission work, we welcome you to contact us.

Food for Friends

Each Tuesday members of our UMW deliver or serve food to members of the community.  Food is prepared at Epworth and taken to those in need.  This vital ministry to our elderly and senior community has become a cornerstone of our evangelism program.

Tabitha's Place

Tabitha's Place provides meals to the community three times a week to ensure people who need a warm meal receive it. The Hattie Rogers Circle of the UMW sponsors and serves several meals through the course of the year.

BackPack Buddies

Backpack Buddies is a program that provides weekend food for school-aged children.  Its goal is to provide handy, easy-to-prepare food items to children who may not otherwise receive sufficient nutrition on weekends.  Backpacks include items such as shelf-stable milk and juice, canned pasta, canned meat and veggies, soups, cereal, fruit cups, oatmeal and snack items.

Missions and Evangelism

Epworth is dedicated to showing God's love to our community. There are many ways we encourage our congregation to be involved through our Evangelism and Outreach program.  You don't have to be a member to be involved.  This is an open invitation for anyone who wants to be part of God's work with us.  Activities include mission projects, community service efforts, and caring ministry to the elderly community.

Good Samaritan Center

The Good Samaritan Center is a volunteer program offering food to low income and needy families in the community. All food is acquired through donations or food drives. Also available is Good Samaritan's Closet, which provides access to  clothes and household supplies when available.
